Being Real – an interview with f=ma, Invain and Behemoth

In July, I wrote an article for Wannabebig called “Get Real.” The article was a discussion of my views on the flaws of the bodybuilding media (magazines and Internet) and how those perceptions may act as a disservice to those at the grassroots level who are trying to find their way in lifting.

Medical flight leaves Antarctica with sick US man

A medical flight left Antarctica for New Zealand on Tuesday to evacuate an American worker in serious medical condition, after blizzard conditions eased enough to allow for the landing.

The man’s identity and condition have not been disclosed. Few winter evacuations of sick workers have been undertaken from Antarctica, but they include a dramatic midwinter flight in 1999, with blazing fuel barrels to light the runway, to pick up a U.S. woman doctor at a South Pole station.

In the latest evacuation, A New Zealand air force Orion airplane with three medical staff aboard landed on an ice runway at the U.S.

Diet and exercise intervention for patients at risk for heart disease improves quality of life

Most individuals in developed countries do not reach recommended levels of physical activity, and are thus at higher risk of illness and death, according to background information in the article. “Extensive and intensive lifestyle intervention programs delay the onset of diabetes mellitus and reduce cardiovascular risk by increasing physical activity, reducing overweight and making changes in dietary habits,” the authors write.

Navy SEALs are among the U.S. military’s toughest fighters. These special forces perform covert operations, usually under water, and often swim in less-than-ideal conditions. Therefore, SEALs train extensively to keep in shape. They do much of their training on a “Grinder,” a concrete slab complete with rudimentary equipment such as tires and sandbags. Some workouts are harder variations of what you may be used to, like burpees, crunches and push-ups.
